G.N.O.

I need one of those. Y'all hurry up and read this post and then go on out and get your doctor to write that on a prescription pad for you.

(Oh, that's supposed to stand for Girl's Night Out in my world- in case some of y'all are having problems tapping into my brain via blogger).

But really. I want to watch 27 dresses. and drink a margarita. or drink a margarita and then watch 27 dresses. And I want to walk around Kohl's and look at all the kitchenware and laugh at the gadgets that I didn't know existed with someone else. And then I want to head over to Wal-Mart to get some last minute groceries because it will suddenly be very important at that hour. And it will take like 2 hours because when we're in the grocery section we'll realize that we need to head over to the other side of the store for something we just remembered we needed. and then we'll head back to the grocery section for something we forgot from over there. And this will repeat ad-nauseum until we sober up, or decide we're ready to pass out. because Wal-mart won't kick us out, and they are open 24 hours...

And then at the end of the night (when I've had like 2 margaritas) I want to cry and say, "I love you." And if she's as tipsy as me, she'll cry too and say, "I love you too!" *hiccup*

I need to schedule that. Only now, written out it seems so long, and involved, and there is way too much driving *and drinking*. So if Grey's Anatomy would kindly come back on, we could do what we used to- and just go over to the other person's house and sit and do that.

And I'll still call it a G.N.O.

You're So Vain. You Probably Think This Post Is About You.

For those of you having mini-freakouts... yes. I'm talking about you.

I kid. (do I?) But, since I'm just rolling in creative juices of how to post without actually posting (if that makes any sense), I came up with yet another lame addition to the week.

Use a song for your post title. Or not. I did. And now I have to write a paper, so excuse the cop out post...

Hey You. It's Me.

Not that anyone out there cares,

but since I am documenting an entire year of my life, I thought that years down the road I may be sitting in my lazy-girl, ..or rascal. and wonder what in the world was going on in my life on January 29, 2008.

So future me, here you go:

* today, all the boys had their iron levels checked. Sebi didn't cry, but he did make a very sad face accompanied with a "why would you do that to me look" that made me want to buy him a hot fudge sunday and a pony. Gabriel was amused by the coldness of the alcohol swab. And that was about enough of amazing for him. He was very upset once he got stuck. I finally calmed him down and got him back into the double-stroller. Homer's turn. Homer has no idea what is about to happen and he's just happy that mama got him out of the stroller and is holding him. Gabriel is watching the lady start to prep Homer and immediately goes on the defensive. He screamed, cried, and beat the shi#%! out of that lady. O.k., she survived. But she may need therapy. **Note to anyone administering shots to little ones. a) a toothbrush in plastic wrap does not make a shot "better" b) if you're in the running for competing with Crystal Gayle's hair length, you should probably put it up and out of a toddler's reach while administering said shots. c) don't mess with a twin's brother.

* I actually went a whole week and a half without buying my dog "dog food". He wasn't starving y'all. Homer feeds him ALL. THE. TIME. all.the.time. And we rationed out portions of lunch meat...or highchair leftovers. Please don't call animal rights. They don't want my dog. No one wants my dog but myself and my mother-in-law. It's a love you can't hide. Well, tonight I bought him his bag of dog food. I poured it into his bowl and felt good for being a wonderful pet owner. And then he looked at me with this, "what's this crap" face. NICE.

* I made one of those cheap Totino's pizzas for dinner tonight. You know the ones we all had in college. We all had those, right? I'm so o.k. with this. Because tonight at the gym, I ran like it was going out of style.

* Oh, and while at the grocery store Sebastian called to ask me to pick up wipes and pampers. And guess what was free when you bought Huggies pampers? wipes. and bath wash. SCORE.

* I like hot baths. My bathtub also fills up in record time. I have to be careful with this since I almost had a repeat episode tonight. But, I didn't. I did have the bath set to the perfect temperature. And the water level was a bit higher than normal, but I was cool with that. As soon as I was settled into my relaxing bath, I realized I had to pee. I'm not gonna lie, y'all. I thought long and hard about this one. And I finally got my soaking body up and out of the tub before senselessness took over.

Could Get Better, But It's Gonna Get Worse.

No really. I'll say it for you. Enough with the writing strike. Stop talking about it. Well ladies, I can't. Television is that big of a part of my life. And then I got to thinking.

Now how sad is it that my life is so ridiculously consumed by that box that sits in our living room? And I felt this sense of shame come over me. I was just about to list all the things that I could put good use of my time to, when I realized...

That soap box is much too high for me to get up on. And I want my television back.

Hey! That's Not My Post!

I know. I saw it on someone else's blog. And being that three hundred and sixty five is A LOT of days, I came up with a little loophole (as I would like to call it). Feel free to participate. There are no rules and no set date of the week. I do kindof like the post title though, so you may want to keep that the same. Or not. Back to the loophole. Fish around and peek in on random blogs and steal a post.

That sounded worse than I meant it to. Please do provide a link. I'm not sure what the penalty for blogging plagiarism is, but it probably involves a really lame template with screwy fonts and a no comment allowance for like 30 days...

Anyhoo, here's my pick for the week. Woulda Coulda Shoulda has a blog title that screams opportunity...not taken.

But I love it. And I'm amazed that the very first blog that I clicked on happened to be fairly entertaining. I got stuck there for a good while. I woulda stayed longer, but I had to put the babies down for a nap. And I coulda gone back, but I have to study for my exam tonight. Which I shoulda done last night.

I know. I'm creatively endowed.

What's 365 minus January 27th?

I quit.

O.k., I'm not quitting. But, I'm feeling so uninspired. After watching My Fair Brady, Maybe Baby? and Bret Michael's Rock of Love II, I'm blinded. My eyes can't see. I've already expressed my concern for the writer's strike...Thank goodness for those 13 years of piano lessons that I took, because I'm just letting my fingers crawl along the keyboard.

And while we're on the subject, is anyone else grateful for the little bumps on the F and J keys? REally. They are so handy. Because most days, my keyboard sits on top of my computer screen and I type with my arms raised up in the air. Not because I think this will lose my arm fat, mind you. It's because Gabriel wants to "type", and it usually ends up with the computer crashing. But if it weren't for those little bumps (and the piano training), I'd be a lost cause. Or, I'd watch more t.v.

I'm sorry that I'm posting nonsense and really, I'm just trying to fill up space. I just need to hit the 'publish post' button, because if I eat anymore candy corns, I may need a whole new set of teeth.

Oh, and we went to the park today.

Where Did I Put The Egg Slicer? Left Cabinet, Top Shelf

Oh, that Hollywood would wise up and give in to those brilliant writer's. Because, ain't nothing on y'all. Nothing worth watching anyways. I actually think that the television is now actively making me dumber. Really.

After our movie last night, I surfed through the channels to find something to watch. A-N-Y-thing. And then I found that nice little channel that switches to infomercials like at 12:00am and diet products/earn your own income from home and make $100,000+ a month at 6:00am. right. But, I got sucked in, ya'll. I was shown products that I was convinced I could not live without. I saw them on the tee-vee, ya know. Fancy little things. Thank the Lord I'm strong, because I could have gone to bed having purchased:
  • the hard boiled egg slicer. Genius. It slices the egg in these perfect segments. Perfect for every time that I serve up a platter of hard boiled egg slices. Because I do that- uh, NEVER.
  • my lil reminder. This is one of those key chain voice recordin' dee-vices. You know, so I can walk around and dictate to myself. The package actually says, "You get two". I guess that's to remind yourself where the heck the other one is.... I promise I'm working hard on finding a utube of this one to post, because SERIOUSLY?

** I found it! If you can make it through the video to the part where they show that the gadget has a built in LED light (which they conveniently shine in your face), please insert a "Ka-Chow!" ala Lightning McQueen.**

If It's Stuck, Fix It. If It Talks, Listen.

Whew. What a day! I'm exhausted and relieved all wrapped up into one. I'm just glad the day is finally over!! Yippee! I'm taking the night off, and then hitting the books tomorrow to prepare for my first exam of the semester on Monday!

Here is an update on the home front:

  • Today, Homer woke up early from his nap (as always). He is my short sleeper. The only one so far of the three boys to take after his mama. Sebastian can sleep hours and hours and more hours. The same holds for Sebi and Gabriel. Homer, not so much. He usually wakes up and chit-chats until he decides that it's time for me to come and get him at which point he raises his voice. If, I decide to wait a while, he busts out with this lame Houdini routine where he wedges his leg in between the crib rails and then cries for help to get unstuck. (yeah, the lame part is that he can't get himself out). It's like a daily ritual around here. Well, today when I went to rescue Pudge I did the same thing I do every time. I tugged at either rail in opposing directions to loosen his leg a bit and then there was a *SNAP!* I broke the crib. oops.

  • While Homer and I were up together, I decided to finish getting dinner ready. He walked in the kitchen with the remote control in his hand, handed it to me, and said, "There you go." WHAT?#!? He kept repeating this phrase for the rest of the night. I'm just awestruck since Sebi's first phrase was, "it's stuck." ....hmmmmm. they seem a whole lot more related now.

OH NO.

This is a last minute quick, quick post. Because it is 11:49 and I have officially started freaking out. I got home from class and ate a little snack and took a nice hot bath. Then I realized the water was too hot, so I got out and nearly passed out from the heat.

After watching yet another re-run of Grey's Anatomy, I made myself a hot cocoa with the 3 oz of milk left in our refrigerator. Can't wait to make the trip to the grocery store tomorrow morning at 5:45, since it's supposed to be cold and wet- my least favorite weather combination.

Anyhoo, I decided I'd better post and get to bed when suddenly my mind is racing. And it's not racing with questions such as where are the vestibular nerve and semicircular canals located in the body. NO. My mind is suddenly wondering how many cups are in a quart? I can't remember. Wait, now there are 16 oz in a pint. And is it 2 pints make a quart? or is it 4 quarts make a gallon? I will not go to bed until my mind is clear. And now, I'm doubting that there are indeed 1000mL in 1L.

All that time spent worrying about anatomy & physiology and here I find myself the night before my exam flustered over conversions. GREAT.

Randomness

Tomorrow: is technically in 38 minutes.

Feeling: anxious

Happy because: it's almost Friday

Today I: received a wonderful complement from one of my classmates that made me feel really good. We were practicing moving patients & explaining procedures and she looked at me and said, "you're going to make such a great nurse."

Laundry: I have some. A lot. Not as much as I had 3 weeks ago, though.

Something I know: Sebi will be in my bed before morning.

Currently reading: Anything I can find regarding Anatomy & Physiology and Stop Acting Like A Christian, Just Be One.

Wanting: to pass my HESI exam

Favorite gadget: the babies' sound machine

Thankful that: I have realized that my children are still babies (thanks, Bonnie). All of them. And it makes me want to cherish time with them rather that get frustrated with the day to day bumps in the road.

Wondering why: I have the desire to rent Saw IV on Friday

Feel free to copy and paste...it's going around.

Confessions From A Mom

Sometimes breakfast is cheerios poured straight onto the highchairs.

There are days when it's cold and I'm tired and the kids never seem to make it out of their p.j.'s. -well, to be honest, some days it's warm and I'm well rested and that still happens.

I like to keep silent when my husband asks me, "what is that sauce on this meatloaf? it's soooo good." *it's called barbecue. I didn't invent it, I just spread it well. (shhhhh)*

I couldn't find my toothbrush tonight, so I used Sebi's.

I had a hamper full of laundry in the garage since this summer- so I washed it all, dried it, and then dumped it in a bag for goodwill. I have no idea what articles of clothes I gave away.

Oh, this one's good. This morning, I ate the rest of Sebi's breakfast taco when he wasn't looking and blamed it on Pudge.

I assure you, I have many more. But, I have to get up and finish reading for my nursing skills class tomorrow and do some charting. And if I stay here much longer I will get sucked into the lives of other moms out there that seem to be so much more fascinating than my homework.

Countdown To HESI - 4 Days

I'm having a rough start to my week. It's been rough because my brain is on overload right now. I am thinking back to all the times that I said, "I don't know how I got an A in Anatomy or in Physiology for that matter, because I really don't think I learned anything."

You know what paybacks are? I'm not going to say it. But, I will say that I am being payed back. I am being payed back by having to crash course 2 semester's worth of material into one week. I am reading Anatomy every chance I get. And when I'm on the internet- Anatomy. I believe I'm dreaming Anatomy. There is so much more to cover that it's really sad. But, do you want to know what the really pathetic part is???

I have all this material. Boo-koos of material. A plethora, if you will, of material. And I'm told there are only 30 questions on the A&P section. THIRTY questions?!#!? I can come up with 30 questions for the first 20 pages that I read on Sunday. And I've got loads of material to pick and choose which topics they might decide to test me over? Seriously? Ten bucks says multiple questions cover one specific topic. Great. I really want Friday to be here.

And I really don't want Friday to get here.

The Mind. It's a Terrible Thing To Waste.

I have made a miraculous recovery. Yes. I have retaken charge of my body from the cold that set up shop two days ago. I am a survivor. There isn't a sniffle in me left and I've used up all of my sick time.

What to do. What to do.

The transfer game- obviously. If you haven't played, you should. Really. It's a hoot and a half. Especially if the person you're playing with has no idea that they're playing. Let me explain the rules.

Basically, you pick the most annoying song you can think of and sing it and sing it until the person you're "playing" with gets it stuck in their head and starts singing it. Thus, the transfer. My target: My husband. I know. I'm a seriously great spouse :)

My 1st song of choice was "Funky Town". So, I sang, "won't you take me to. FUNKY TOWN! won't you take me to. FUNKY TOOWN!". That one took all of 7 minutes. Becky-1; Sebastian-0

My next song was a challenge. "Hangin' Tough" by the Backstreet Boys. I kid you not that for 39 minutes straight I sang, "whoaahhhoooooo-OOOO-oooooo-OOO. Just hangin' tough". The best I got was after I sang the whooaahh0000-0000 part, Sebastian would sing, "You're hangin tough!"

I consider that a win. Becky-2; Sebastian-0.

I'm off to go and try and convince my husband that the song "Panama" by Eddie Van Halen is called "Cannonball". I think I'll start the conversation by singing, "Cannonball! Cannonbaa-aa-aa-aa-aa-all!"

This should be fun. ;-)

If I Had A Cow, She'd Be Dry.

Yes. I am milking the sick thing. And do you want to know why? Probably not. But, I'll tell you all. Because every time my husband is sick. EVERY. TIME. MY. HUSBAND. IS. SICK. The bedroom door is closed and he holds up in there for a 2-3 hour nap and then surfaces to shuffle around before he makes it to either the couch or the bed. Whichever has sportscenter. Which is the couch. So, yes I feel bad. Not so bad that I can't function. But, he doesn't know that.

I actually took to the bedroom this morning around 10:00 and slept until 10:40. I threw in a few extra toss and turns last night and early this morning for more effect.

And I did not score a foot rub last night. He actually tried to steal some of my candy (sour patch kids). I told him in a very firm voice,

"BACK OFF!"

I may not have the sick thing down like he does, but I did get an extra 40 minutes in bed today. And I gave him ONE candy. I did bite half of it before I gave it to him. Sick doesn't mean less bitchy.

Woe Is Me and My Aching Head

I'm playing the sick card. because I have a terrible, terrible head cold. that or some really pissed off sinuses. Either way, my head feels like it's going to explode. Heaven forbid I sneeze. I've resorted to carrying around a small bag so that in the event that I sneeze and happen to lose some brain matter, I'll be able to recover anything that was lost.

o.k., I may not be sneezing out my brains. But, it sure does feel like it. Sebi has been taking care of me today. I told him that mommy was not feeling well. He built me a tower of blocks and told me, "there. that should make you feel better mommy." And just tonight, he brought me a balloon and told me, "hold this mommy. this will make you feel better."

At least I'm in good hands.

I really don't feel well at all. It got progressively worse as the day went by. It started last night, with a premonition as I lay in bed and told my husband that I didn't think I would make it. But, here I am chugging along. I did the only thing I knew would help me after we put the babies to bed. I announced that I was going to the store to get something to help mommy feel better. To which Sebastian answered, "you're going to buy candy, aren't you?"

He knows me too well. And as I braved these winter temperatures and headed out for my sugar in a bag (or cure-all, as I like to call it), I realized that going out in the cold, wet weather may just make me worse tomorrow.

Fortunately, I plan well. I bought two bags of candy. One for tonight. And one for tomorrow. I'll check in on everyone that I missed today. I would love to sit here and read everyone's posts, but my back and my head and my feet are telling me otherwise.

I'm off to go lay on the couch with my candy and look as pitiful as I can. I think if I interject a moan and groan here and there, I may just score a foot rub.

Monkeys See. And They Do.

Sebi is in Mother's Day Out today. He took an octopus for show-and-tell because they are on the letter O this week and will be on the letter P next week. (Just in case y'all forgot your alphabet). The little guys have just had about all they can stand of color time in their highchairs. It's the perfect time for me to get on the computer because after being strapped down for that long, they really just want to wander around the house and bump into each other.

So, I was checking e-mail, reading blogs, commenting and such when I heard something very familiar. It's the preview to Ra-ta-touille. The preview that is on the Cars DVD that comes on before the show. Now how in the heck did they figure out how to start that thing up???

I'm thinking they need to spend more time in the kitchen watching mama prepare meals.

Beckyology

Ah, Emily. You have given us all the night off. Bless you.

Let others know a little bit more about yourself; repost this with your name and "ology" at the end. No tagging, but let me know if you're going to do it, I'd like to read!!

MOUTHOLOGY
Q. What is your salad dressing of choice?

Q. What is your favorite fast food restaurant?
A. Chipotle burritos. Black beans, rice, chicken fajita, lettuce, tomato, and HOT sauce. yum.

Q. What is your favorite sit down restaurant?
A. County Line. I LOVE STEAK AND BREAD. Someone tried to convince me once that there was a specific diet for your blood type. I immediately thought that was a load of crap until I found out I should eat meats and breads. Sounds very scientific now.

Q. On average, what size tip do you leave at a restaurant?
A. 15%-20% unless I notice the server is working extra hard or having one of those days. I waited tables for quite awhile, so I know what it's like to get that extra tip every now and then. It makes your day.

I used to study at the library and eat cornnuts until I really pissed this girl off and I had to switch to something I could suck on. I don't know what she said, because I had headphones on, but she looked pretty pissed and was motioning frantically at my cornnuts. Do we see why I am back in school now in my 30's??? Anyway, I don't remember what year that was, and I obviously didn't learn my lesson with the cornnuts since I was trying to bite on a jolly rancher. But, I do see the poor girl's point.

A. Green? Anyone?

Q. Have you ever swallowed a non-food item by mistake?

Q. Would you pose naked in a magazine for $250,000?
A. HECK NO. And the odds of me getting an offer doesn't leave a lot of time to ponder this one.

Q. Would you drink an entire bottle of hot sauce for $1000?
A. How hot is this "hot" sauce?

Q. Would you, without fear of punishment, take a human life for $1,000,000?
A. Absolutely Not.

DUMBOLOGY
Q. What is in your left pocket?
A. Nothing.

A. The first time around if you're drinking. After that. No. Even with alcohol.

A. Top 8 what? I'm not getting this one.

LASTOLOGY
Q: Last Friend you talked to?
A: Bonnie. We're both coping with not having class together this semester. If ya'll don't remember, she and I took studying very seriously....the night before our exams. She was telling me about her new classmates and I was telling her about my new classmates. We miss being in class together because everyone trying to get into our field is all strung out and too serious and competitive with one another. I told her we were going to be the richest nursing students ever because the coal up everyone's asses was gonna be diamonds by next semester.

Q: Last person who called you?
A: Angela

Q: Last person you hugged?
A: Sebi. I got home from class around 9:15 and as soon as he saw me he jumped up, hugged me and said, "mommy! I missed you sooooo much!" awwwww.

Q: Last person to stick their foot in your face?

A: Yes. Yes. Yes.

Q: Are you a friendly person?
A: Yes.

Oh, Mother. Where Art Thou?

I need to start out with a thank you very much to everyone for giving me their vote of confidence. It meant the world to me to be lifted up by you all, so again I would like to send out a very sincere thank you!

On to my day.

I'm not sure where I got my mom card. I'm beginning to think I may have been issued a generic brand at this point. Please, let me explain.

Today before going to Mother's Day Out, Sebi requested to take this puppet dinosaur with him. I told him that I didn't think that he was allowed to take toys to school, to which he responded

"Sophia brought something." soooo...

I told him that I would ask Miss Julie (his teacher) and if she said that is was o.k., then he could take the dinosaur with him on Thursday. I dropped Sebi off this morning and told Miss Julie that Sebi had wanted to bring a dinosaur and that Sebi had mentioned that Sophia had brought something.

Miss Julie explained that if they had been on the letter D that week, then Sebi would be allowed to bring the dinosaur for show-and-tell. But, they were on the letter O this week, and would be on the letter P next week. I guess that was in case I forgot my alphabet.

And the whole while I'm thinking, why didn't I get the show-and-tell / letter of the week memo? Now realize, that when I take Sebi to school I have the babies in the double stroller and I can't double stroll them into the building because there is only stair access to the classroom part of the building. So I have to wait for another mom who is willing to wait with the babies, so I can quickly run in and drop off/pick up Sebi- because the babies realize that I am leaving and pandemonium breaks out. It's really very sweet.

Anyway, I now get the whole show-and-tell rules and as I'm walking off with my tail between my legs, I grab Sebi's lunch box and backpack and head on out the door.

Hmmmm... his backpack. Never open that thing. Looks pretty full.

LOTS OF MEMOS IN THE BACKPACK. Excuse me, as I try and swallow this huge lump in my throat.

Is that why she reminds me every time that 2 dollars are due for this or that? Because I never read the notes they send home? Please, y'all don't judge. Because my parenting skills got "better" as the day progressed.

**preface**I don't need to remind y'all about my dislike of cockroaches. If you don't already know, you can check here, or here.

Tonight, after brushing Sebi's teeth I sent him off to his room. I went to our kitchen closet where we keep the pampers. I grabbed one and headed toward his room and noticed that my hand was on something that didn't feel quite like pamper. My head spinned, time froze, and I believe I saw glimpses of my life flash before my eyes as reality sunk in as to what exactly it was that I was holding along with the pamper. Cockroach!

I screamed, threw the pamper and roach down, and continued to freak out. Sebi came running, my dog tried to attack me, and all the while Sebi is approaching the roach and just .. about.. to.. step.. on.. it....

So I freak out more and do this shooing motion for him to get back, get back. I may have been saying, "get back, get back". I have no idea. It's all a blur now. I'm sure it'll all come back as I lay on my therapist's couch some day. Well, guess what this does to Sebi?

IT FREAKS. HIM. OUT.

So, he's in his room. Freaking out, and crying. I have to pass by the roach and fight the urge to kick my dog as I run to settle my little guy. He's shaking and crying. I finally settle him and tell him that it's o.k. Mommy just doesn't like roaches too much. But daddy will be home soon and everything will be all better. Great.

So, I've pretty much told my child that there is absolutely nothing I can do about this situation because I'm a big chicken and can't handle cockroaches. I'm sure he will forever feel safe in my care.

What line was I in when they were handing out mom cards???

I've Got Class. 2 of Them, Actually.

After a financial aid (slash) registration fiasco today, I started my semester with 2 classes. LONG story short, financial aid will only pay for what I have changed my degree plan to. So 2 of the courses that I was registered for before (that I was hoping to apply to my bachelor's) will not be covered. And since I live out of district, I'm not shelling out the $1000+ dollars for those two classes.

I'm going to be content in knowing that these are the only two classes that I can take before entering the nursing program (hopefully) in the fall. I suppose I need the time to focus on my entrance exam because one of classmates told me it was super hard and that I may have to take it 2 or 3 times! WhAt?!$#!? I only have 2 shots at this test, and then I have to wait another calendar year before I can take it again.

So, I'm getting cracking on studying for the test. I'm moving my test date up from February 8 to January 25. Because if I do need to retake it, February 8 is my last chance before the application deadline on March 1.

I'm a little stressed!

Mouse or Port, & Terminate the Cowboys

I'm trying to post, really. It's just taking me FOREVER because I am having issues with either my mouse or my USB port. I'm hoping it's the mouse. It'd be one thing if I could just leave the mouse here in the text box, but Sebi comes to the computer frequently and clicks on certain things. and guess who copies everything that Sebi does? Gabriel.

So, I'm stuck trying to redirect the mouse back to my window to click and open it, and then to this text box. I'll fight this battle when everyone is asleep...

The kids are all in bed now and there is no ice cream carton big enough to drown my husband's sorrow over the Cowboy's loss tonight. He did have a couple of tall beers at a sports bar with his brother while watching the game, but I think that just made him more depressed. He is regrouping on the couch as I type trying to man himself up with a new show featuring Sara Conner and (I'm assuming) the Terminator.

Hopefully, someone will kick ass tonight. Wasn't our Cowboys.

9 Months Later

I spent nap time today going through old pictures and thought I'd post some for the family.

No. I'm NOT pregnant. Just in case the post title scared anyone.

That's all for today. I'm having a lazy day. Case in point- at the gym today I should have just lied down on the treadmill. Because I think I would have burned just as many calories as my 20 minute stroll did.

Go Shorty. Really. Go.

O.k., so Sebastian got this really cool frog for Christmas from his really sweet co-worker and Homer REALLY likes it. R.E.A.L.L.Y.

You may remember from this post the wonderful song and dance the frog performs. "Go Shorty. It's your birthday." And then there are some other lyrics that my husband and I are in debate about. I'm sure he's right, but I love touching on his nerves sometimes- so I'll continue to argue he's wrong.

Back to the frog.

The little music clip lasts about 25-30 seconds. And then Homer says Ah-dehh. Ah-dehh. (again. again). This happens over. and over. and over. and over. and over. and over. and over.

you see where I am going with this? Nuts. Crazy. That's where I'm going. Crazy, nuts, insane. Shorty, I'm all tapped out on your damn birthday. But, here's the problem.

I thought I might sneak this frog into the garage. Out of sight, out of mind. Not my kid's mind. Then, I get to watch Homer walk around with the most worried look on his face repeating "Ah-dehh? Ah-dehh?"

He's looking for Shorty, which he coincidentally calls, Ah-dehh. If any of y'all have ever seen my Pudgy's big eyes you can sympathize with me here. You can't say no to those big, sad eyes.

I digress. Welcome to the family, Shorty. It is your birthday.

***per request of my husband, here is video of Pudge dancing. Never you mind that Gabriel's pamper is about to fall off. Just watch Homer get his groove on.***

This next video has better lighting. I took it after I changed Gabi's pamper.

Health Nut

O.k., I need to preface this post. And I am prefacing it because when I was on the couch watching Throw Down with Bobby Flay and thinking about what I wanted to post tonight, I realized that things aren't going to sound so good on my end.

So here is the preface.

I really do try and eat well. I'm an extra lean ground beef, no oil using (unless necessary, and then it's olive oil) cooking, healthy kind-of person. I've always been this way. Add in a husband that requests 200 grams of protein and like 10 grams of fat for his daily intakes and we're just sad. Really. Hot dogs make me cringe. It's like eating something that means absolutely nothing to your body. I do the whole pat with the paper towel and try and squeeze as much oil and fat and whatever extras (like ass and hole) that are in them. And that's only if someone else serves them, because I don't.

Wait. That's a lie,

because Sebi tried them at someone's house once, so now occasionally, I will buy him the 98% fat free turkey dogs. And I still feel bad about the sodium content, but I just have him drink plenty of water.

But, I cook well. And he eats. And Sebastian eats. And Homer eats.

Gabriel, he doesn't eat. He drinks milk. A. LOT. OF. MILK. He doesn't eat unless it's chicken nuggets. he's all over those. and french fries.

So there is my preface.

Tonight when Sebastian got home from the gym, I went to go and buy some milk. We were out. *See previous post*. I got in my car and realized that I was basically running on fumes since I had a low tank yesterday and drove into downtown Austin and then back again for my nursing school meeting. So, I went to a gas station and filled up. And I thought, might as well make it a one stop shop and get the milk here. And I saw that Hot Fries were .99c Haven't had those since college, and they grabbed me and slapped me and whispered sweet nothings to me- so I bought them.

Later after I got home, I announced I was going to the gym. On my way to the gym, the Hot Fries that I had left in my car (I was determined to win this battle of temptation) sang me a song. It went something like this,

"delicious. hot fries. right next to you. no means yes."

So, I snacked on hot fries on my way to the gym. I told you I was going to sound bad. And you can now re-read my post title and see that there was a pun intended. I'm nutz. crazy nuts. Because I was eating hot fries on my way to the gym. And I didn't feel bad about it.

o.k. I did.

So, I find a parking spot at the gym......FINALLY. Because the new year's resolution crowd is there and they aren't leaving until February.

As I am about to leave my car, I notice that I have a bag of Hot Fries in my passenger seat. Not that I cared, (I cared) I decided that I needed to hide that bag. So I reached down to the bottom of the passenger seat to find something to cover my hot fries that I was snacking on on my way to the gym. Guess what I pulled out to cover the hot fries?

A Wendy's bag. From when I had bought Gabi and Homer chicken nuggets on Tuesday.

Two points need to be made here.

1. I should clean my car

2. When I bought the nuggets, I saw an advertisement for the "snack attack". I'm sorry, but this is a fast food restaurant chain. Anything mentioning "blank" attack just brings to mind heart attack. But I guess marketing is on their game, because I still bought my 5 piece chicken nuggets and fries for my boys...

WANTED: 1 Chicken, 1 Cow

I need to go to the grocery store. I should go to the grocery store. I don't want to go to the grocery store, because it's cold out. I don't want another round of nebulizer treatments for Gabi which is what always happens when I take him out in the cold.

But, I need milk. And eggs.

I feel like every other day we're making this trip for milk. or eggs. or both. We drink some serious milk in this house. And apparently, we tear up the eggs too. So I'm thinking that if I had my very own cow and my very own chicken, life would be easier.

But then I have visions of my boys chasing a chicken. And where the heck would I put the cow?

Guess my grass is green enough. And I'd probably end up with this couple of duds,

Three Donuts and My Husband

Just some random things that I'll quickly throw at you and you can swat away anything that comes your way that just bores you to tears. or you can stop reading ;-)

1. Tonight I have a very important meeting. It is Step 3 (out of 7) to my application process to the nursing program. I forgot about this meeting, but my husband called me at lunch to remind me that he would be home early so that I could brave I-35 before the traffic hit.

2. I went to the gym yesterday and so did the entire city of Round Rock. Tonight, I'm showing up with a box of donuts that I'll casually set on a table in front of the treadmills. Then the first person to ditch their machine is S.O.L. as far as I'm concerned. I'm running.

3. If you haven't scrolled down and checked out my profile pic, you need to. Because by the time my husband sees that I posted that picture of him, my ass is grass. And that picture will be gone.

I'll just stop right there at 3. It's the least common denominator for my favorite number 9. If I went any further, I'd have to get to 9, or 12. That's too much random.

Fashion Monday

Alright, I've said it before and I'll say it again. I am no fashion aficionado. I have no clue what is in and what is out. In fact, by the time I figure out what is in, it's out again. I'm o.k. with that because I have a husband who still owns Girbaud jeans, so I look like the sensible one most days. Unless those are back too.

This is also (probably) why I don't do hair or make-up, because those styles change just as often as the fashion ones do.

That being said.

This jacket is all wrong on this model. The "model" is a wonderful new friend of my husband and I. In fact, she may very well kick my ass after I post this. But, Michelle you have my permission to take me out and get me drunk and post a funny picture of me. (Round Rock express tickets are already free for all four of us, so we'd only be looking at alcohol cost- and a possible driver).

And that's my jacket she's wearing... Remember, I'm like 5 foot nothing (if that). Next time I'll let her borrow my skirt. She's got smokin' legs!

If It's Hip To Be Square, Make Me A Circle

We had movie night with Sebi the day before yesterday. And you know what made our movie night so awesome? The sucky SpongeBob Squarepants movie? No.

It was those snazzy popcorn containers that you see us holding. (shout out-Thanks Von & Albert!) If you know nothing about me, know this. I love popcorn. It's an addiction. I know this because at a certain time every night, I've gotta have it. I believe the old school crowd calls that "Jonesing". I don't know why. Keeping up with the Jones's? Gotta have what the Jones's got....

Back to movie night. Sebi got to drink a sprite (his very 1st soda that I am aware of). I think that was his personal highlight of the evening.

I also think that I'm off to make some popcorn. And we'll be doing movie night more often- Sebi had a blast.

Duck, Duck, Booze

It was awesome outside today. Obviously, our cold front was short-lived. We enjoyed temperatures in the mid to upper 70's. LOVE IT. So.....We visited our old stomping ground. For those of you who never frequent here, that means the duck pond. We go often, to say the least. I think the ducks know us by name.

After seeing the ducks, we went to the play area that has lots of sand. Lots. of. sand. There was a boy there Sebi's age, Jameson, with his father. Jameson had the whole set up. He had a front-loader dump truck. Like 76 shovels. The makings of a castle complete with mote, oh, and a really sorry play attitude.

Thanks Jameson for sharing all of your toys with Sebi and my boys. But what the heck was going on with chucking the sand in Sebi's face over and over again?

Next time I head to the duck pond, I'm taking a Starbucks to-go. And if Jameson is there, he can make that coffee Irish for me so that I can better deal with him.

I've always loved Irish whiskey in my coffee...

**update. For those of you who didn't get it...Jameson is an Irish whiskey. Irish coffee is traditionally made by adding Irish whiskey and or Bailey's. And, yes. The little boy's name was indeed Jameson which I thought just made for an even funnier post.

I'm Buying Some Nivea Leg Cream Tonight.

Today, Sebastian came home from running errands and announced that it was very important that I only buy necessities for the rest of the month. We're on a tight budget after the holidays.

Apparently, watching Resident Evil and eating moo-llenium crunch ice cream tonight are necessities. Because those are the items he brought home along with the trash bags and milk that I sent him to pick up.

I'm Cold. It's Chili.

Two nights ago, I heard we were getting a cold front. A for real cold front where the low was expected to be in the upper 20's. That's cold. So, I racked my brain to figure out what to cook to help ease in the cooler temperatures.

Sandra Lee from the Food network, my crock pot, Google, and I came up with a recipe for chili. I made a big-ass pot of chili. 2 lbs of extra lean ground beef and 5 cans of beans later takes us into day 3 of this fabulous chili. which was more fabulous on day 1 and day 2. I know chili has that aging advantage that gets the flavors out days later, but I'm sick of chili.

Note to self: next time you make a big-ass pot of chili. Freeze most of it.

And on the subject of winter moving into Texas- I get cold easy. And I make it a point to announce that I am cold when I'm cold. My announcement is then followed by an inquiry as to whether my husband is cold too.
"I'm cold. Are you cold?"

(his head usually drops back as his eyes roll) and his choice phrase of late has been,

"sure. I'm whatever you want me to be."

He loves this about me. I'm sure that had he known that his future wife would ask him if he was cold every time she was cold, he would have explored bachelorhood on a whole new level. But I know he loves me because he answers me every time I get cold and feel the need to ask if he's cold too. Which also brings to mind how useful he is in the wintertime.

There is no thigh warmer than my husbands to squeeze my toes under when I'm cold in bed. I appreciate that about him during the winter. Especially since he let me do this even when I insisted on keeping the ceiling fan running. This was an ongoing battle between us.

I like the ceiling fan on. He sees no point for its use in the winter. After three years, I have lost the war. Because this is our first winter where the fan has remained off. Maybe I'll find a fight in me next year, but I'll give him this one...

Oh, and tonight I took a bath while Sebi was still up. That's always fun because he loves his mama so much that he insists on bringing me toys. Lots. of. toys. He likes to chuck each one in so I get splashed in the face with water. It's quite relaxing. The fun part is the next morning as I lie in bed and listen to the sound of our shower curtain being pulled back. Then I get to hear Sebastian curse about why the heck there are so many damn toys in our bathtub.

I smile in bed, but my toes are cold.
*and by the way, this would be an AWESOME Valentine's gift. hint, hint.*
found it on this blog.

Just Raisin The Kids

On the topic of feeding my kids:

I did a much better job diet-wise with Sebi, because he's my only child that eats a well balanced meal every meal. Somewhere between the babies being 5 months old and now, my parenting rules and books and guidelines flew right on out the window. I know, I know.

BUT, I grew up on Ramen soup and Lean Cuisines for a good part of my childhood and I turned out just fine. There is only an occasional twitch and jerk of my head- and that's only when it's cold out. Seriously, I should be a bit more responsible for their health at this young age, but for now...

Sure does make for good video.

Yes. Those are nerds that he is calling "raisins". In this next clip, (if you aren't too distracted by how adorable it is that Homer keeps trying to feed Gabriel), you'll notice that Sebi professes (about the "raisins"),

"They're my's. I love them."

The really sad part, I have saved for last. If Sebi had actually found a real box of raisins, he probably would have been just as happy. The babies,

not so much.

Oh, Life.

Today, I start the search for the perfect place to put my kids in September. This is hard, because there is not a perfect place to put my kids. The only place that seems near perfect enough is here at home with me. But, I have to do this.

I'm sitting here typing with tears in my eyes trying to come to terms with the fact that I have to let go, and that noone will ever hold on just as lovingly and tightly as I did. I didn't imagine that this would be so difficult for me.

but, I do have 9 months to get used to it...

Out Of The Mouths Of Babes

Over the past month, Homer has busted out with a few words. Nothing big- Hi. Cheese. Again. Simple words that he'll repeat when asked. Gabriel has been gobbling like a turkey for quite some time. We thought it was cute.

But today, Gabriel decided to say his first word,

Backyardigans. ???#!!?

He does love that show...
