Weekly Sunday Posts for June '07

June 24, 2007
This weekend marked the infamous "operation sippy-cup". By the time we got to Sunday morning the morning went as follows....
7:45 (approximately the usual bottle time give or take 30 minutes)
* 1st attempt this morning for the sippy cups. Reaction not good. Screaming. Throwing the sippy-cups.

8:15
* hmmm... babies unusually angry. Lots of crying going on now. Noone is happy. Sebi is confused...

8:30
* breakfast. Babies seem better. O.k. , we can do this!

8:55
* breakfast is over and they are thirsty. Let's try the sippy-cups.............BAD IDEA. More screaming. Sippy-cups flying. Amazingly, they have figured out how to curse the sippy-cups in baby language...

9:30
* NOONE is happy. Sebi is still confused. I'm managing to keep my cool, but Sebastian can't take it anymore.

9:35
* Emergency phone call is put in to Tia Vanni. Not very hopeful with this one, since she is probably off at church. Blasted! I was right. Tia Vanni cannot be reached! P A N I C

10:something (at this point, the time is all blurred...)
* Emergency phone call is put in to Gramps. Gramps is in church, he will call back...

10:something shortly after
* Gramps calls back. I explain the situation. Gramps says to give them their bottles. Gramps has to go to collect the offering, "lots of kisses and call you later"

10:more after
* Phone call to after-hours clinic. Request for help with the bottles. Nurse says Dr's advice was crazy. Nurse says give bottles, wean slowly...

11:15
* Mommy and Homer off to Walgreen's to buy more bottles and milk.

11:25
* Homer is getting milk in the bottle in the car. Homer is happy.

11:30

* Daddy meets us at the car and gets Gabriels new bottle and milk. Gabriel gets a bottle. Gabriel finishes 7 oz and wants more. Gabriel gets 3 more oz., wants more. Gabriel gets 2 more oz.

11:45
* Babies are OUT and happy! :)

Sebastian celebrated his 29th birthday on Friday. My attempt to surprise him with a night out with family and old friends flopped rediculously, but he appreciated my valiant effort and we watched a movie instead. Father's day was special because we got to have lunch out with Grandpa, Grandma and Roxie. Homer spent 98% of the time screaming, Gabriel was enjoying the day out, and Sebi was on his absolute best behavior the ENTIRE time (including the 45 min wait to be seated!). We all conceded that next year, we are celebrating Mother's Day and Father's Day the day before. Sebastian has taken his history certification exam, and now wants to focus on his personal training. The school semester is definitely under way and I have already had 3 exams. I think the pace may start to pick up around here, but we're used to it. :)

This was a wonderful weekend. My dad had hinted that a visit to the Valley would be appreciated (and I could tell he was missing the babies), so we packed up and headed south Thursday afternoon. As usual, it took quite a bit of time to get going (packing the truck, leaving, going back for the pack-n-play we forgot, dropping off Oso, sitting in rush-hour traffic), but in the end it was all worth it! We stayed with Tio Albert and Tia Vanni and got to barbeque Friday and Saturday night. Grandpa and Grandma Aguilar got lots of cuddle-time with the babies and I took plenty of pictures. Sebi was so excited to see his cousin Nico and aside from the (expected) sharing issues, the boys had a good time together. Sebi especially liked being able to go swimming. Sweet Gabriel enjoyed exploring Tia Vanni's house and if he didn't cover every square inch of that place, it would surprise me. Saturday night after we put the babies to bed, I just had to get them back up for an encore appearance. Grandpa snuck Homer outside and was spending some quality time with his grandson. It was such a sweet picture to see the two of them staring at each other as they sat on the swing outside. Sunday came much too quickly. We left Vanni's house (only to go back for the camera) and headed to see Grandma and Grandpa one last time. Grandma gave both of the babies a bath just before we left so they were nice and relaxed. Of course a few miles down the road we had to go back- forgot the camera again. Once back in Round Rock, we got to end the day at a Soprano's Season Finale "party" hosted by Juan and Toni. Rox made a delicious lasagna and we were all less than impressed...with the show - not the lasagna :)

We are so excited that Sebastian got his first job offer. I say first, because I am almost certain that more will follow in the weeks to come... I am enjoying being back in class for the summer. It's only the beginning of week 2, so things haven't gotten terribly busy (just yet, anyway). Grandma, Toni, and I carpooled to San Antonio this weekend for Diane's baby shower. She looks absolutely beautiful and we got a peek at the nursery which is smartly designed (complete with a chandelier!). I had pictures, but my silly self checked photos I wanted to delete in my photo program- and apparently it works the other way around.....so long story short I lost a lot of great pictures from the shower as well as Amelia's 5th birthday party :( speaking of which...Toni had Amelia's party at Michael's this year and all the kids got to decorate and paint. They even had a store scavenger hunt! We had to check out early because Gabriel came down with a fever. Shortly after, (we saw this coming) Homer also had fever, so the two little guys have been sleeping off this nasty bug they seemed to have caught! Sebi has been noticing this summer heat and has decided that a slurpee is an "ALL-THE-TIME" food :)
